About Acorn Wire
- As the company grew, and the need for horse-proof mesh decreased, they moved to their 4940 S. Kilbourn Ave., Chicago, facility. During the post-WWII boom, the family business branched out into other manufacturing venues, such as security folding gates for schools and wire mesh partitions for access control. It was also during this time that ACORN began focusing more heavily on the quality aspects of their products by creating lighter and easier-to-install security gates and partitions that incorporated solid riveting and higher quality casters and rollers. ACORN Wire and Iron Works set the standards for security folding gate and wire mesh manufacturing - and continued to exceed those standards.
