A School District’s District-wide Safety Plan needs to be a comprehensive, detailed, living document that describes the consistent standards and protocols to be adhered to by all of the schools within that district while satisfactorily addressing the four phases of Crisis Management:
-Mitigation / Prevention
-Preparedness
-Response
-Recovery
This plan must be reviewed and updated on a regular basis. A well written and well organized District-wide Safety Plan should be able to be handed to a new administrator and after an hour of review that administrator should have a good general sense of how the district manages their safety and security responsibilities.
